A Little About Me
My name is Shetress. You may be thinking “what a unique name to have” or “what kind of name is that?” The truth is, I have always hated my name because it was so different, but now I understand that having a unique name is a gift. I am the creator and author of this store and its products. This store was created to provide powerful resources to help women (and men[?]) work through life’s challenges and provide Mental Wellness from an interactive and Christian Perspective.
Being a mental health professional, owning my practice Life's Uncertainties, and blogging provides me with the opportunity of serving others.
• Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Earning my bachelor’s in psychology, minor in women studies, and master’s in counseling assisted me in cultivating the gifts I was endowed with to be an agent of change. Dedicating my life to support others through life’s challenges has been rewarding. I have had the opportunity to support others who have suffered from depression, anxiety, abuse, grief, infidelity, and other life challenges. This support has been provided using counseling, engaging in community outreach, and writing articles in local papers such as Ebony News Today.
• Professional Life Coach. Obtaining a professional life coach certification has enhanced my ability to serve. My life coaching certification provides me with the opportunity to assist others in becoming more aware of their own power and ability to accomplish their personal goals. I am a firm believer that love, knowledge, wisdom, patience, and divine strategies must be used against everything that threatens our peace, self-empowerment, self-love, mental wellness, and the love we have for others.
• Public Speaker. Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to speak publicly about life’s challenges and mental wellness such as sexual abuse, depression, and suicide prevention. I had the honor to be a guest speaker in the 2019 Community Youth Rally where the theme was “Teen Suicide” and recently at the Mental Health Awareness Power Brunch in 2021.
Because pain and having challenges in life are universal experiences, why not write about it through daily journaling and other solutions? My desire is to help you find the answers to some of the uncertainties of life by providing different perspectives and strategies that are easy to understand. To edify and promote growth requires being real and transparent. Starting now, take some time everyday to nurture and care for the ever precious you.
